Merchwar.com “Rumor that Livenation is buying pickRset”
OK everyone as you might have read at merchwar we are not selling pickRset to Livenation for a million dollars. On behalf of my bank account I am sorry to say this is not true. I am actually a fan of Merchwar for the humor of the site and alot of the truth that is on the site. That being said every penny that has gone into building and marketing of pickRset has been my own. I wish we had investors to make it bigger if it could stay with the vision that created it just to get it out to that many more fans in the world.
For those of you who don’t know who my alias is mr TSURT my name is Chris Siglin. I started out in the music business when I was 17 years old booking tours on the pay phone in between classes at my High School in Brea, CA. After highschool I went on to managing some ska punk bands in Orange County as well promoting shows with my good friend John Pantle all over the OC (before it was the OC) We did shows for bands like Sublime, No Doubt, Korn, Beck and a million others. This time in my life was one the funniest times ever. I went on to meet some really great bands before they were big then I meet the guys from Blink-182 (well Blink at that point in time) we became good friends and I started touring with them doing there merchandise. I started designing the merch and then producing it. I worked with them to the end. In this time I started my own merchandise company and have had the pleasure of working with some really amazing bands over the years. Most of them on this site. I still do merchandise every day for many bands because I love doing it.
Fast forward to summer 2007. Bad Religion and +44 were both going on tour. The problem Bad Religion was doing Warped and has 30 years worth of material to shove into a 30 minute set. So I built out a small little ghetto site that polled the kids for what songs that wanted to hear. That has no evolved into pickRset.com
I wanted to make sure that the fans were able to participate in the shows in some fashion. I learned many things from working with Blink for so long and that was when all was said and done they loved there fans and still continue to. Everything that they ever did was with the question being asked is this is the right thing to do for the kids that have always been with us?
pickRset was built to help fans and bands communicate with one another. I am not very good with writting articles. Actually let’s face it I am horrible I should have paid a little more attention to this in HighSchool instead of worrying where Suburban Rhythm was going to play that weekend. But I hope you can tell how commited we are to this little site and how much we appreciate every single person that signs up and helps market our bands tours.
Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
Chris Siglin
